Design: 4.5
There is no real flashiness here. What you get is what you see, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. You get a hard plastic case with a USB 3 cable. There is a Blue Indicator light that flashes when it is reading or writing data. It stays lit when on and is off when off. Right below the light there is the USB 3.0 out and to the right of the port is the on and off switch. There is nothing else really to the device… Simple and Clean.

Performance: 4.5
Overall I can’t really complain about the performance because it works just as good as the previous casing i had for this hard drive. The Only real difference is that the other casing i was using was the one from the LaCie Rugged Triple which had a Rugged design and 2 Firewire 800 ports. I’d Replace the 2 firewire ports for a Decent USB 3.0 port any day though. The Transfer speeds seem pretty much the same. I did notice that the drive seems to turn itself off when it isn’t reading or writing though… I’m not sure whether this is a good or a bad thing though.. I did a quick test to show the difference in transfer speeds and USB 3.0 is clearly faster than using a 2.0 port… No one should use 2.0 anymore IMO….

Test file was 1.64GB

USB 3.0 Port 20.47s from drive to CPU 1.20s from CPU to Drive ----------------------------------------------------- USB: 2.0 Port 1.08s From Drive to CPU 2.18s From CPU to Drive

While there aren’t many features in this device it just works…
